Over a decade of experience in directing, writing and digital marketing.

For over a decade Shanele Soares has worked as a director, videographer and digital marketer for non-profit across Canada, the US, Qatar and Kuwait. She specializes in projects that explore the authentic experiences of her intersecting identities as a Black Muslim Woman.

 

Shanele has already released her first feature documentary and scripted short film and is shopping two television pilots to notable broadcasters in Canada and the US. Her upcoming scripted feature is in early development and is also a top 30 finalist for the Blacklist Cannes Film Festival residency.

Recently, Shanele has served as a story consultant on multiple feature films, a script reader and juror for the Muslim Public Affairs Council in Hollywood and a facilitator at the POV/ Envision Lab. She has also been selected as a Black Screen Office delegate for multiple prestigious events such as the Netflix/ Canadian Academy Global Strategies Conference, and the Toronto International Film Festival.

Marketing Experience

  • 2021 Marketing Consultant and Videographer for The Digital Sisterhood. Proposed numerous marketing strategies and produced video content to further brand's activation and hit podcast series. Collected and used demographic to design visual decks used to cement partnership deals. Developed and directed product launch marketing campaign and video assets.

  • 2019 - 2020 Digital Marketing Director at Possibility Capital Inc. Developed marketing and business proposals for the activation of Possibility Capital Inc’s condo and hotel development property in St. Kitts & Nevis. My proposals and marketing assets were used to secure $500M in capital, along with contract management agreements with Westin Hotels & Resorts. Personal responsibilities also included web site development and management, copywriting, graphic asset creation, architectural plan editing and weekly analytic reports.

  • 2019 – 2020 Marketing Specialist for Investing News Network. Simultaneously managed hundreds of digital adverts across company website, Google Search Ads and Google Display Ads. Deployed daily email campaigns and push notifications (phone & desktop) to over 300k subscribers, successfully boosting open rate, click rate and lead gen. Offered analytic reports and tangible strategies to department heads to achieve department specific KPIs.

  • 2018 – 2019 Digital Marketing Director at Project Najda Esports Team. Developed and executed marketing plan to activate new Esports brand. Using a grassroots budget, generated over 2,000,000 impressions over a 2-month campaign. Video assets generated over 500,000 minutes in watch time across Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. Over 12,000 email leads generated, and multiple partnerships developed with notable non-profit organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club and Tropicana. Responsibilities also included managing social media channels, video producing, player management and youth program development.

  • 2016 – 2019 Digital Marketing Director for the Abu Huraira Center. Developed marketing strategies incorporating video assets, graphic assets, and digital adverts to solicit over $8M in public donations, corporate donations, and government grants. Managed multiple social media channels and weekly email campaigns to maintain a consistent increase in followers and engagement. Responsibilities also included staff training and management, marketing consultation and vision mixing (for conferences held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center).

  • 2014 – 2018 Marketing Specialist and Video Producer for the Islamic Online University.Produced and edited hours of video content to advertise the University’s various educational programs and services. Coordinated with CEO, President, VP and department heads offering analytic reports and marketing proposals to meet registration and retention KPIs. Co-managed Facebook pages with over 10M followers, producing copy, video and graphic assets. Responsibilities also included video marketing campaigns used to generated over $5M in public online donations.
